Sugar Creek will offer camping, hiking or camping. Additionally, it will include many cultural cemeteries or historical buildings. Salt Creek is a wildlife area which encompasses over 80 acres on the east and over 110 acres on the west and it is open to hunting as well. Otter Creek has over 60 acres of lake along with a beautiful park which will offer boating, camping or fishing to all interested travelers. The campsites can not be reserved. The park will include a nature center and various playgrounds where kids may entertain themselves.

Function

The Iowa River and its streams will play a rather important role in the milling industry, thus offering much of the power that it is needed to run more than ten sawmills. This power will be both water and steam.

Tama County will include 19 townships: Salt Creek, Otter Creek, Indian Village, Carlton, Clark, Perry, Richland, Columbia, York, Lincoln, Toledo, Crystal, Geneseo, Howard, Buckingham, Spring Creek, Carroll, Oneida or Highland. For any of these cities listed above, you may reach any of the streams of Iowa River. All creeks will eventually flow into the waters of Iowa River, which is practically a tributary of the Mississippi River which will stretch over more than 300 miles across Iowa.

Climate

During the winter, the temperatures are rather frigid from 16 to 22 degrees. In spring, the temperatures will vary between 34 and 68 degrees while during the summer, the temperatures may reach even 74 degrees, July being the warmest month. During the fall, the temperatures may reach 62 degrees. What it is important to be considered by the travelers interested in cruising on the Iowa River is that the winds on the river tend to be rather cooler.
